A few years ago a friend took me to a marketing agency with swanky offices on the side of a river. Impressive. They were pitching him on a raft of work, and my friend asked me to go along to give him my input. During the meeting, my friend excused himself for the bathroom.
While he was away, the ‘marketing executives’ (agency directors) grilled me on who I was and what I was doing there.
They then admitted that they really really needed to win my friend’s work, because they were struggling to find new clients. They were basically asking me to help them get the work, or at least to not put off my friend from going ahead with whatever they were pitching.
To say I was stunned is somewhat of an understatement!
A really good marketing agency — who practice what they preach — should be
absolutely overwhelmed with work… otherwise who are they to help YOU with your marketing!?
Suffice to say, Quandary is not taking on new clients. Sorry. We’re too busy!
